How to use the geometry calculator
Choose a calculation type, fill in the fields that appear, and click Calculate. Result shows the calculated values, Formula used, Steps, and a labeled diagram. Copy result and Download result (.txt) keep the displayed summary available for another task, while Reset clears the inputs and hides Result.
- Select Slope, Distance, Midpoint, Triangle area, Circle, Polygon area, or Solid volume / surface area.
- Enter the coordinates, lengths, radii, or dimensions requested by that mode.
- Choose a mode-specific option, such as Use 3D coordinates (x, y, z), Base & height, or Regular polygon.
- Click Calculate and read the values, Formula used, Steps, and diagram in Result.
- Click Copy result or Download result (.txt) to take the displayed text elsewhere. Click Reset to clear the inputs and hide Result.
Circle and solid volume / surface area inputs
Circle starts with one positive measurement: Radius, Diameter, Circumference, or Area. The result calculates the other three measurements. For Solid volume / surface area, choose Cube, Rectangular prism, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone, or Square pyramid in Solid, then enter the positive dimensions shown for that shape.
Distance uses Unit of coordinates and has a Convert result to (optional) control. Circle has the same conversion control. Triangle area, Polygon area, and Solid volume / surface area use an input Unit without result conversion; Slope and Midpoint have no unit controls.
Triangle area and polygon area choices
Triangle area has three input methods: Base & height, Three side lengths, and Three vertex coordinates. The three side lengths must be positive and satisfy the triangle inequality. Three collinear vertices are rejected because they enclose no area.
For Polygon area, Regular polygon accepts Number of sides (3-30) and Side length. Irregular (vertex coordinates) accepts at least three x,y pairs, one per line, in boundary order. The calculation follows the entered order and does not check for self-intersection.
Distance, slope, and midpoint results
Slope uses x1, y1, x2, and y2 to calculate slope, angle of incline, distance between points, trend, and the line equation. Distance uses two 2D points, or adds z1 and z2 after you select Use 3D coordinates (x, y, z). Midpoint returns the coordinate halfway between the two points.
Distance: (0, 0) to (3, 4)
Result: 5 m
Slope rejects identical points. A vertical line has an undefined slope when x1 and x2 match but the two points differ. Distance and Midpoint accept identical points and return their calculated result.
Three input cases
- For a line, enter x1, y1, x2, and y2 under Slope. The result includes the line equation.
- For a 3D distance, select Use 3D coordinates (x, y, z), enter z1 and z2, and choose Unit of coordinates.
- For a circle, select the known measurement, enter its positive value, and read the four circle measurements in Result.

Frequently asked questions
What can I calculate with the Geometry Calculator?
Choose Slope, Distance, Midpoint, Triangle area, Circle, Polygon area, or Solid volume / surface area. Result shows the calculated values, Formula used, Steps, and a labeled diagram.
How do I calculate the distance between two points?
Select Distance, enter x1, y1, x2, and y2, then click Calculate. Select Use 3D coordinates (x, y, z) to show and enter z1 and z2.
How do I calculate triangle area from coordinates?
Select Triangle area, choose Three vertex coordinates, and enter x1, y1, x2, y2, x3, and y3. The calculator rejects collinear points because they enclose no area.
Can the geometry calculator convert the result to another unit?
Distance and Circle convert results when you choose a different value in Convert result to (optional). Triangle area, Polygon area, and Solid volume / surface area use the selected input Unit without a result-conversion control.
