Font Inspect Tools

Preview a font with sample text, metadata, and glyphs.

How to use Font Inspect Tools

Start with the font you need to check. Font Previewer lets you load a local font file or choose a browser and system font, enter sample text, inspect font details and glyphs, and copy CSS for the selected preview.

Choose a font preview tool

  • Font Previewer loads an uploaded local TTF, OTF, WOFF, or WOFF2 file, or a browser and system font.
  • Enter your own sample text, then inspect the words, letters, and characters in the selected font.
  • Adjust size, weight, style, line height, letter spacing, and colors to change the preview.
  • Review metadata, supported faces, character sets, and the glyph grid after loading the font.
  • Copy the CSS after setting the preview options you want to keep.

What Font Previewer shows

After you load a font or choose a browser and system font, Font Previewer shows the sample text alongside font information. You can review metadata, supported faces, and character sets, then open the glyph grid to view individual glyphs.

Use sample text that matches the work in front of you. A heading, name, or short line shows the selected font in those words. The glyph grid lets you inspect characters that do not appear in the sample.

Sample text: Riga 2026

How to adjust a font preview

Keep the sample text in view while you change the settings. Size changes the sample's scale. Weight changes its thickness, and style changes its slant. Line height changes the space between lines, letter spacing changes the space between characters, and colors change the preview's appearance.

When the preview shows the settings you want to keep, copy the CSS provided by Font Previewer.

What font files and fonts can you inspect?

Font Previewer accepts uploaded local font files in TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 formats. You can also choose a browser and system font for the preview.

For font conversion, subsetting, comparison, or CSS generation, open Font Tools.

Examples of font checks

  • Load a local font file and enter a project heading as the sample text before changing its size, weight, or color.
  • Check a WOFF or WOFF2 file, review its supported faces and character sets, and copy CSS for a stylesheet.
  • Preview a browser or system font with a name or date, then adjust line height and letter spacing around that text.
  • Open the glyph grid after viewing a sample sentence to inspect characters that the sentence does not contain.

Frequently asked questions

How do I inspect a font file?

Can I preview a font with my own text?

Yes. Font Previewer lets you enter your own sample text and adjust its size, weight, style, line height, letter spacing, and colors.
