- Paste text into
Paste Markdown or HTML here..., or use Upload to read a.md,.markdown,.html, or.htmfile. - Choose Auto-detect, or select the direction that matches your input.
- Read the converted source in Source output.
- Select Rendered preview to inspect displayed HTML, and check the warnings panel after HTML to Markdown conversion.
- Choose Copy or Download for the converted source.
Convert Markdown to HTML or HTML to Markdown
Auto-detect counts HTML-like tags. Two or more matches select HTML to Markdown; fewer matches select Markdown to HTML. Select a direction yourself when Markdown contains angle brackets or HTML contains only one tag.
For example, this Markdown:
**Hello**
becomes this HTML:
<p><strong>Hello</strong></p>
In the other direction, this HTML:
<h2>Release notes</h2>
becomes:
## Release notes
What Source output and Rendered preview show
Source output contains the converted text and is selected first. Markdown to HTML output is pretty-printed HTML. HTML to Markdown output uses Markdown syntax. Rendered preview displays generated HTML for Markdown input and sanitized HTML parsed from HTML input.
The preview removes <script>, <style>, <iframe>, <object>, <embed>, and <form> elements. It also removes onerror, onload, onclick, and onmouseover attributes. The preview can therefore differ from the source.
Which Markdown features convert to HTML
- Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, horizontal rules, bold, italic, strikethrough, and inline code.
- Ordered and unordered lists, nested lists, and GitHub-style task lists such as
- [x] Done. - Links and images, including optional titles.
- Pipe-delimited tables and fenced code blocks with language hints.
What HTML to Markdown conversion changes
Supported headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, tables, blockquotes, code, and inline formatting are mapped to Markdown. The first table row becomes the Markdown header. Classes, inline styles, and many other attributes are not represented in the output.
<script>, <style>, <template>, and <noscript> are removed during conversion. Unknown tags keep their text and appear in the Unsupported HTML (no Markdown equivalent, content kept as text) warnings panel. <div> and several inline tags pass through without an individual warning.
Check converted content before export
Use Rendered preview to inspect HTML before copying Source output. After HTML to Markdown conversion, read the warnings panel when the input contains custom elements or tags that have no Markdown equivalent.
Use Text Conversion Tools when the task is changing text representation. Choose Base64 Encoder / Decoder for Base64 text, Text Code Converter for decimal, hexadecimal, binary, or octal character codes, and Unicode Converter for Unicode escape sequences or hidden-character inspection.
Copy and download converted source
Copy places Source output on the clipboard. Download saves Markdown as converted-output.md or HTML as converted-output.html. Empty input clears Source output, Rendered preview, and warnings. Copy and Download remain disabled when Source output is empty.
Parsing, conversion, and uploaded-file reading happen in the browser. The converter script has no fetch or XMLHttpRequest request carrying visitor content.
