How to use the ROAS Calculator
Enter figures that cover the same period or campaign. Currency labels the money values, while Period labels the result. The calculation uses Total advertising spend and Attributed revenue to produce ROAS, revenue minus spend, implied ROI, and break-even revenue.
- Select Currency and Period for the figures you are entering.
- Enter Total advertising spend for the period or campaign. Use a number greater than 0.
- Enter Attributed revenue covering that same period or campaign. Use 0 or a positive number.
- Enter Target ROAS - optional if you want to compare the result with a goal.
- Click Calculate ROAS, review the result, then use Copy result or Download result (.txt). Click Reset to clear the fields and restore USD and Monthly.
What Currency and Period change
Currency changes the symbol or label shown with money values. It does not convert amounts. The Other / unspecified choice has no currency symbol. Period labels the result and downloaded summary with Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Campaign total, or Custom period. The calculator does not check that the figures match the selected period, so Total advertising spend and Attributed revenue must cover the same interval. Changing either control hides the current result until you calculate again.
Currency: USD ($)
Period: Monthly
Total advertising spend: 2500
Attributed revenue: 9800
ROAS: 3.92:1
Revenue minus spend: $7,300.00
Implied ROI: 292.0%
Break-even revenue: $2,500.00
How ROAS and target comparison are calculated
The calculator divides Attributed revenue by Total advertising spend. It subtracts spend from revenue for Revenue minus spend, then divides that amount by spend and multiplies by 100 for Implied ROI. Break-even revenue equals Total advertising spend. When you enter Target ROAS - optional, the calculator subtracts the target from ROAS and multiplies the gap by spend to show the revenue difference at that spend level. A warning appears when the absolute gap is greater than 0.005.
What the ROAS Calculator leaves out
The calculation uses Attributed revenue and Total advertising spend only. It does not identify or apply an attribution model or window, verify advertising-platform data, convert currencies or periods, forecast performance, or recommend a budget. Goods, refunds, discounts, fees, and overhead are outside the Implied ROI calculation.
Total advertising spend must be greater than 0. Attributed revenue must be 0 or more. Target ROAS - optional can be blank, or it must be 0 or more. Invalid or missing required values keep the result hidden and show an error message. A ROAS below 1:1 receives the result's error styling. The page calculates from the values you enter and does not send them to an ad platform or calculation service.
Where this calculator fits
- Enter spend and attributed revenue from one monthly report, then check ROAS and Implied ROI before recording the campaign result.
- Enter a target of 4 to compare it with the reported ROAS and see the ROAS gap and related revenue difference at that spend level.
- Use Copy result or Download result (.txt) to keep the formula, assumptions, and entered figures with a campaign note.
When to use another business calculator
Use Business Calculators when the job involves profitability, pricing, SaaS revenue, cash runway, or inventory rather than this ad-spend ratio.
Use the Marketing Metrics Calculator when you need ROAS alongside CPM, CPC, CTR, and conversion rate or want to compare campaigns. Use the CPC Calculator when the needed result is advertising spend per click. Use the Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) Calculator when you need sales and marketing spend divided by new customers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate ROAS from ad spend and revenue?
Divide Attributed revenue by Total advertising spend for the same period or campaign. For example, 9800 divided by 2500 produces a ROAS of 3.92:1.
What does a 4:1 ROAS mean?
A 4:1 ROAS means attributed revenue is four times Total advertising spend. The ratio uses the revenue and spend you enter, with no other costs included.
Does the ROAS Calculator convert currencies?
No. Currency labels the displayed money values, and the calculator does not convert currencies.
Why is my ROAS below 1:1?
A ROAS below 1:1 means Attributed revenue is lower than Total advertising spend. The result receives the tool's error styling.
Does this ROAS calculator pull data from my ad account?
No. It calculates from the figures you enter and does not send them to an ad platform or calculation service.
