SaaS Metrics Calculator

Enter one period of recurring revenue, customer, spend, and cash figures to calculate MRR, ARR, CAC, LTV, customer and revenue churn, expansion/contraction, gross and net burn, cash runway, and Rule of 40 - all from the same dataset, with every formula and denominator shown.

Enter your SaaS figures

Determines whether your recurring revenue entries are treated as MRR (multiplied by 12 for ARR) or as ARR (divided by 12 for MRR). Every figure you enter below must cover this same period.

Label only, for display in the results. The tool does not convert currencies.

Used for MRR, ARR, expansion/contraction, revenue churn, and growth rate. Ending recurring revenue = starting + new business + expansion − contraction − churned.

From brand-new customers acquired this period.

Upgrades or upsells from existing, still-active customers.

Downgrades from existing customers who did not cancel.

From customers who fully cancelled this period.

Used for customer churn rate, ARPA, and LTV.

Used with new customers acquired to calculate CAC.

Used to convert ARPA into LTV. Must be between 0 and 100.

Your choice of EBITDA, net income, or free cash flow margin for the period, used in the Rule of 40 score. This tool does not compute a full P&L, so enter the margin figure yourself.

This is gross burn - all cash spent running the business in the period.

Actual cash received, which may differ from recognized recurring revenue.

As of the end of the period, used with net burn to calculate runway.

How to use the SaaS Metrics Calculator

Keep every figure on one period. The calculator uses recurring revenue movements, customer counts, sales and marketing spend, margins, and cash figures to produce metric tiles and a formula breakdown. The results table places each numerator and denominator beside its result.

  1. Under Period type, select Monthly - figures below are for one month or Annual - figures below are for one year.
  2. Under Currency, choose a display label. The calculator does not convert amounts.
  3. Enter Starting recurring revenue, New business recurring revenue, Expansion recurring revenue, Contraction recurring revenue, Churned recurring revenue, Customers at start of period, New customers acquired, and Customers churned.
  4. Enter Sales & marketing spend (period), Gross margin (%), Profit margin (%), Total cash operating expenses (period), Cash collected from customers (period), and Cash balance on hand.
  5. Select Calculate metrics. Results includes the metric tiles and formula breakdown.
  6. Select Copy results for text or Download CSV for the metric and value rows.

Calculate MRR and ARR from one period

Starting recurring revenue changes when you add New business recurring revenue and Expansion recurring revenue, then subtract Contraction recurring revenue and Churned recurring revenue. With Monthly selected, the ending amount is MRR and the calculator multiplies it by 12 for ARR. With Annual selected, the ending amount is ARR and the calculator divides it by 12 for MRR.

Starting recurring revenue: 10,000
New business: 2,000 | Expansion: 500
Contraction: 300 | Churned: 700
Ending recurring revenue: 11,500
Monthly result: MRR 11,500 | ARR 138,000

Those movements also produce net new recurring revenue. Keep revenue, customer, spend, and cash figures on the selected period. Annual runway divides annual net burn by 12 to get monthly net burn.

SaaS churn, CAC, and LTV calculations

Customer churn rate divides Customers churned by Customers at start of period. Gross revenue churn rate divides Churned recurring revenue by Starting recurring revenue. Net revenue churn rate subtracts Expansion recurring revenue from Churned recurring revenue before dividing by Starting recurring revenue. Contraction recurring revenue is excluded from that formula.

CAC divides Sales & marketing spend (period) by New customers acquired. The calculator gets ARPA by dividing ending recurring revenue by customers at the end of the period, then uses ARPA, Gross margin (%), and customer churn to calculate LTV. The LTV : CAC ratio divides LTV by CAC. Rule of 40 adds annualized revenue growth rate to Profit margin (%). Monthly growth compounds one month's growth over 12 months; Annual uses the period growth rate.

Monthly and annual inputs, currency, and blank fields

Currency labels the results and does not convert values. Blank inputs become 0. Amounts and counts must be 0 or more. Gross margin (%) must be between 0 and 100, and Profit margin (%) must be between -1000 and 100.

The calculator rejects Customers churned above Customers at start of period. It also rejects Contraction recurring revenue plus Churned recurring revenue above Starting recurring revenue. A metric with a zero or undefined denominator shows N/A. When net burn is zero or negative, Cash runway reads Not burning cash (breakeven or profitable).

Review the combined results

Read MRR, ARR, and net new recurring revenue together to see the period's recurring revenue change. The breakdown table keeps each numerator, denominator, and result together for customer churn, revenue churn, CAC, LTV, burn, runway, and Rule of 40.

Cash runway uses Cash balance on hand and monthly net burn. Gross burn comes from Total cash operating expenses (period), while net burn subtracts Cash collected from customers (period).

Use a narrower calculator for one metric

Visit Business Calculators for the wider set of business tools. Use the MRR Calculator for an MRR movement report. Choose the Churn Rate Calculator for customer or revenue churn from starting, lost, gained, and ending totals. Use the Burn Rate Calculator for gross burn, net burn, and cash runway from cash balance, revenue, and expenses.

Frequently asked questions

What does a SaaS metrics calculator calculate?

The SaaS Metrics Calculator calculates MRR, ARR, net new recurring revenue, customer and revenue churn, CAC, LTV, the LTV : CAC ratio, gross burn, net burn, cash runway, and Rule of 40 from the figures you enter.

Should I use monthly or annual figures for SaaS metrics?

Use Monthly - figures below are for one month or Annual - figures below are for one year, then enter every figure on that same basis.

Why does the SaaS Metrics Calculator show N/A?

It shows N/A when a metric has a zero or undefined denominator, such as zero starting customers for customer churn or zero new customers for CAC.

Does the calculator connect to billing data?

No. It applies the formulas to the values you enter and has no billing system connection or benchmark comparison. The calculations run in your browser.
