Font Converter

Convert a font between TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 locally in your browser - inspect metadata and licensing, see exactly which tables are preserved, and validate the result before downloading. Nothing is uploaded.

How to convert font files between TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2

Load a font, inspect its source details, choose one of the offered targets, and check the result before saving it. Font Converter keeps the glyphs and retained OpenType tables, while showing metadata, embedding permissions, dropped data, and validation status. The file is read in the browser. A WOFF2 source or target also loads a Brotli codec from jsDelivr.

  1. Drop a font here, or select browse files.
  2. Review Source font and Metadata (read-only), including the embedding-permission message.
  3. Choose an available format under Convert to, then select Convert.
  4. Check Result, the Dropped / unsupported notice, and validation before selecting Download converted font or Download report.

What formats can Font Converter change?

TTF and OTF files can be wrapped as WOFF or WOFF2. WOFF and WOFF2 files can return to their native format, or switch to the other webfont container. The native choice follows the outline format: TrueType uses glyf, while CFF uses PostScript outlines.

Direct TTF-to-OTF and OTF-to-TTF choices do not appear. Those changes require converting the glyph outlines. Font Converter changes the container or compression format.

What metadata does Font Converter show?

After the file loads, Source font shows the detected format, outline format, file size, glyph count, units per em, and OpenType table count. Metadata (read-only) can show Font Family, Font Subfamily, Full Name, Version, Copyright, Trademark, Manufacturer, Designer, License Description, and License Info URL when the font contains those values. The OS/2 embedding permission is displayed and never edited.

Which font data is preserved?

The converter keeps the glyphs and retained OpenType tables, then re-parses the output to check them. The DSIG table is always dropped because repackaging invalidates its signature. WOFF input can also contain metadata and private-data blocks; the tool reports those blocks when they do not carry into the result.

TrueType Collection files with the .ttc extension, malformed files, and unrecognized formats are rejected. WOFF processing needs the browser's CompressionStream and DecompressionStream APIs. A WOFF2 source or target needs the Brotli codec from jsDelivr. If that codec cannot load, conversion stops.

Where font conversion comes up

For a webfont stylesheet, load a TTF and choose WOFF or WOFF2, then inspect Result before downloading. When a package contains WOFF2, convert it back to its native TTF or OTF form if that is the format the next tool expects.

Before redistributing the converted file, review Metadata (read-only), the OS/2 embedding permission, and the dropped-data notice. Download report saves the conversion and validation details beside the output.

When to use Font Convert Tools

Use Font Converter when the glyph outlines should stay in place and the file needs another supported container or compression format. Visit Font Convert Tools to choose among the font format conversion pages in this category.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert TTF to WOFF?

Load the TTF with Drop a font here or browse files, choose WOFF under Convert to, and select Convert. Review validation before downloading the result.

Can I convert WOFF2 to TTF?

You can convert WOFF2 to TTF when its outlines are TrueType. A WOFF2 font with CFF outlines is offered as OTF because the native output follows the source outline format.

Does converting a font remove its glyphs?

Font Converter leaves the glyph set intact and does not subset glyphs. The output keeps the glyphs and retained OpenType tables. The DSIG table and some WOFF container blocks can be dropped and reported.

Does Font Converter change font licensing data?

Font Converter does not edit the displayed metadata or OS/2 embedding permission bits. Review those values before redistributing the converted font.

Why can't I convert TTF directly to OTF?

TTF uses TrueType glyf outlines and OTF uses CFF outlines. Changing between them requires re-outlining the glyphs, which Font Converter does not perform.
