Keyword Density Analyzer

Paste your content to get an SEO keyword density table, N-gram phrase detection, a visual heatmap of overused words, and an SEO health score - all locally in your browser.

How to use the Keyword Density Analyzer

Paste a draft or load a text file, then choose Phrase length and Show top. Keyword Density Analyzer counts 1-word, 2-word, or 3-word groups, shows each count and percentage, and marks matching phrases in the Density Heatmap. Include stop words controls which groups enter the results.

How to check keyword density

  1. Paste article or page copy into the text area, or select a .txt, .csv, .log, or .md file with Upload.
  2. Choose Phrase length: 1-word keywords, 2-word phrases, or 3-word phrases.
  3. Choose a number under Show top to set the table rows displayed: 10, 20, 30, or 50.
  4. Turn on Include stop words when common English words should remain in the phrase counts.
  5. Read the Keyword Density Table, SEO Health Score, and Density Heatmap below the controls.

The analyzer converts text to lowercase, keeps Unicode letters and numbers, and keeps apostrophes or hyphens inside tokens. Other punctuation becomes whitespace, so punctuation does not create separate keywords.

What Phrase length changes

Phrase length sets how many adjacent tokens form each result. With 1-word keywords, the analyzer counts each token. With 2-word or 3-word phrases, it counts groups in the order they appear. This input produces the following 1-word rows with stop words excluded:

SEO tools for SEO experts
n-gram: 1-word keywords
SEO 2 40.00%
experts 1 20.00%
tools 1 20.00%

Density divides each phrase count by the number of possible positions for the selected phrase length. A 2-word analysis has one fewer position than a 1-word analysis, and a 3-word analysis has two fewer. The analyzer has no target-keyword field; it ranks the phrases it finds.

How Include stop words affects keyword density

With Include stop words off, the analyzer skips a phrase when any word appears in its English stop-word list. The list includes for, the, is, and you. Turn the option on to count those words and phrases containing them.

Show top limits the visible table rows. The score and heatmap still use the full ranked result. If filtering removes every phrase, the table reports that no phrases remain after stop-word filtering.

How to read the Keyword Density Table

The table sorts results by count, then by phrase when counts tie. Its columns are #, Keyword / Phrase, Count, and Density. The Density Heatmap marks matching text as Moderate at 1.5-2.5%, in the middle band at 2.5-4%, or High risk above 4%.

SEO Health Score starts at 100. If the input has fewer than 50 tokens, the score loses 15 points and gets a short-text flag. The highest density subtracts 8, 20, or 35 points when it passes 1.5%, 2.5%, or 4%; a second term above 4% subtracts 15 more. The score cannot fall below 0.

Where a keyword density check comes up

A content editor can paste a landing page draft, switch between 1-word keywords and 2-word phrases, and inspect repeated wording in the table.

An SEO reviewer can load a Markdown or CSV export with Upload, set Show top to 50, and review the visible rows in the heatmap.

For a short headline set, leave Include stop words off to remove phrases that contain words in the built-in list.

Keyword Density Analyzer or another text analysis tool?

Use Text Analysis Tools to choose among text checks. Use Text Analyzer for word, character, sentence, readability, lexical-diversity, keyword-frequency, or reading-time measures. Use Concordance Tool for surrounding context, line references, highlighting, or export. Use Language Detector to identify the text's primary language and review ranked candidate languages.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check keyword density?

Paste text, choose Phrase length, and read the Density column in the Keyword Density Table. The Density Heatmap also marks matching terms.

How does the N-gram keyword analyzer count phrases?

It tokenizes the input, then counts contiguous 1-word, 2-word, or 3-word groups. Phrase length determines which groups appear in the ranked results.

Does the Keyword Density Analyzer include stop words?

It excludes words in its built-in English stop-word list until you turn on Include stop words. That setting changes which phrases enter the counts.

Does Keyword Density Analyzer upload my text?

The page-specific analysis script reads the text in the browser and contains no detected network submission for the analysis. The file input accepts .txt, .csv, .log, and .md files.
