What Remove Stop Words changes
The built-in list includes words such as the, is, and, of, and common pronouns. The default comparison ignores letter case:
Input text: The cat is here.
Output text: cat here.
Case sensitive changes the comparison only. When selected, uppercase The stays because the list contains lowercase the. Lowercase is is still removed:
Input text: The cat is here.
Output text: The cat here.
How stop word matching handles punctuation and spacing
Matching uses Unicode letters and numbers. An apostrophe or hyphen can join parts of one word. Remove Stop Words deletes matching words and keeps the punctuation around them, so The cat, is here. becomes cat, here.. It then collapses runs of spaces or tabs and trims those characters at the start and end of each line. Line breaks remain in place.
The list matches whole words. A related word such as theory stays, and the tool leaves other words and punctuation unchanged. Blank or whitespace-only input keeps Copy cleaned text and Download cleaned text unavailable.
