How Remove Empty Lines handles text
Paste multiline content into Input text, or choose a text file with Upload. The remaining lines appear in Output text in their original order. Treat whitespace-only lines as empty is checked when the page opens, so lines containing only spaces or tabs are removed with blank lines. Clear it to keep those lines.
Remove blank lines in four steps

What the whitespace setting removes
With Treat whitespace-only lines as empty checked, the tool removes a line when trimming it leaves no characters. That includes lines made of spaces or tabs. Clear the checkbox to remove only lines whose original value is empty; spaces and tabs then remain.

The tool recognizes CRLF, LF, and CR line endings. It joins kept lines with LF characters, so mixed line endings become one line-ending style in Output text. Text on a kept line stays as entered.
Processing runs in the browser. The page code does not send entered text in a network request. Output text is read-only, while Copy and Download work with the processed value.
When to remove empty lines
- Clean a pasted list after copying it from a document that inserted blank rows, then use Copy to place the remaining lines elsewhere.
- Review a log or CSV-derived text file without blank records between its lines.
