How to use the UUID / GUID Generator
- Enter a whole number in Count.
- Select Lowercase, Uppercase, or Braces under Format.
- Read the generated lines in Generated UUIDs.
- Compare the result counter with the Count value.
- Click Copy to place the lines on the clipboard, or click Download to save the output.
What the format choices change
Lowercase keeps hexadecimal letters in lowercase. Uppercase changes those letters to uppercase. Braces puts curly braces around each value and leaves the five hyphen-separated UUID groups inside.
Lowercase: a1b2c3d4-...
Uppercase: A1B2C3D4-...
Braces: {a1b2c3d4-...}The Generated UUIDs field is read-only. Choose the format that matches the field or text workflow where you will paste the values.
What Count accepts
Count starts at 10 and accepts whole numbers from 1 through 10,000. The page creates a batch when it loads, then creates another batch after Count or a Format choice changes. A blank value, decimal, zero, negative number, non-number, or value above 10,000 shows an error. The page clears Generated UUIDs, hides the result area, and changes the counter to 0 UUIDs.
The UUID / GUID Generator creates values with browser-side JavaScript. The page does not send Count or generated UUIDs through fetch, XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon, or a form post.
Where the generated lines fit
For fixture data, generate the requested Count and paste the one-value-per-line output into the file. The result counter gives you a second number to compare with Count.
Braces keeps the UUID groups and hyphens inside curly braces, which can match a text example or an input field that expects that spelling.
When to use another generator
This page belongs to Text Generation Tools and produces hyphenated RFC 4122 version 4 identifiers. Use the Random String Generator when you need control over string length, character type, or count. Use the Password Generator for character passwords or word-based passphrases. Use the Random Number Generator for integers, dice rolls, or coin flips.
Frequently asked questions
How many UUIDs can I generate at once?
Count accepts 1 to 10,000 UUIDs per generation. The field starts at 10, and the result counter shows how many values were created.
What is the difference between lowercase and uppercase UUIDs?
Lowercase uses lowercase hexadecimal letters. Uppercase uses uppercase hexadecimal letters. The UUID groups and hyphens stay in the same positions.
Can a UUID generator add braces?
Select Braces to put curly braces around each displayed UUID. The option keeps the UUID hyphens and adds the braces outside the value.
Can I copy or download generated UUIDs?
Copy places the generated lines on the clipboard. Download saves the output after a valid batch is created. Both actions use the selected format.
Are UUID v4 values suitable as passwords?
The script first tries window.crypto.getRandomValues and has a Math.random() fallback. Use the generated text as identifiers, not passwords or authentication secrets.
