Basketball Shooting Percentage Calculator

Enter shots made and shots attempted to get a shooting percentage. See the formula, every intermediate value, and a copyable or downloadable result.

Enter any single made/attempted pair - field goals, three-pointers, free throws, or a full-game total. The formula is the same in every case.

How to use the basketball shooting percentage calculator

  1. Enter whole numbers in Shots made and Shots attempted.
  2. Click Calculate. Shots attempted must be greater than 0, and Shots made cannot exceed it.
  3. Read the shooting percentage and the calculation details in the result section.
  4. Click Copy result or Download result (.txt) to keep the calculation as plain text.

Basketball shooting percentage formula and example

The calculation is Shooting % = Made ÷ Attempted × 100. Entering 9 in Shots made and 18 in Shots attempted gives a decimal ratio of 0.5000, 9 missed shots, and a final percentage of 50.00%.

Shots made: 9
Shots attempted: 18
Shooting percentage: 50.00%

The result card shows the main shooting percentage to one decimal place. The calculation details table shows the final percentage to two decimal places and lists the values used in the formula.

What the basketball shooting percentage calculator accepts

Both fields accept whole numbers of 0 or more. Empty, decimal, negative, and nonnumeric entries produce an error. Shots attempted must be greater than 0, and Shots made must be less than or equal to Shots attempted.

Enter one pair for field goals, three-pointers, free throws, or a combined total. The calculator returns one made-over-attempted percentage. It does not split a full line into shot types or calculate FG%, 3P%, FT%, eFG%, and TS% together.

Copy or download a basketball shooting percentage result

Click Copy result to place the generated summary on the clipboard. If the copy fails, the interface says "Could not copy - select and copy manually."

Click Download result (.txt) to save basketball-shooting-percentage-result.txt. The file includes made, attempted, and missed counts, the formula, and the shooting percentage.

Where this calculation comes up

Use one pair for a field-goal total, a three-point total, a free-throw total, or a combined game total. For example, 9 made out of 18 attempted produces 50.00%.

For separate shot types, calculate each pair on its own. The page keeps the made, attempted, and missed counts together for the pair you enter.

Choose the right sports calculator

Use this page for one made-and-attempted pair. Choose the Basketball Shooting Metrics Calculator for FG%, 3P%, FT%, eFG%, and TS% from a full shooting line with a side-by-side comparison. Choose the Baseball Statistics Calculator for baseball stats such as hits, at-bats, total bases, earned runs, innings pitched, walks, and hits allowed. Browse Sports Calculators for the other calculators in this category.
