How to convert EPUB to MOBI

What metadata, covers, and navigation become in MOBI
The output can include the first title, all creator names, publisher, description, subjects, language, and publication date found in the EPUB metadata. For a cover, the converter checks the metadata cover reference, then a manifest item marked cover-image, then the first image referenced in spine order. A found cover is embedded.
The table of contents uses an EPUB3 navigation document first and an EPUB2 NCX file second. If neither supplies entries, the converter follows spine order. It names each chapter with its first h1, h2, or h3, then its HTML title, then its archive path.
What the MOBI7 conversion removes or reports
The output is MOBI7, with no KF8 or hybrid layer. Sanitization removes scripts, inline event-handler attributes, audio, video, iframes, objects, forms, inputs, buttons, and SVG elements. Embedded style elements and linked stylesheets do not go into the MOBI.
Conversion warnings lists CSS patterns found in inline or linked styles, such as fixed or absolute positioning, flexbox or grid, @font-face, animation, transition, transform, and multi-column rules. Those declarations are reported during the scan. A referenced image missing from the archive is skipped, and the warnings do not cover every rendering difference.
When an EPUB cannot be converted
An archive containing META-INF/encryption.xml or META-INF/rights.xml is refused. The converter does not decrypt or bypass DRM. It also stops when META-INF/container.xml is missing or unreadable, the OPF package is invalid, metadata, manifest, or spine is missing, the spine is empty, a spine document is missing, or a spine reference is absent from the manifest.
The EPUB bytes remain in the browser while the page parses and encodes them. The page code does not send the selected book to a server, and it sets no numeric file-size limit.
Where EPUB to MOBI conversion comes up
- A reader has a DRM-free
book.epuband needs abook.mobifile for a workflow that accepts MOBI7. - An author checks the title, author, cover, chapters, and navigation in the converted file.
- A librarian or archivist reviews

Frequently asked questions
Does the EPUB to MOBI Converter upload my book?
The selected EPUB is read, parsed, sanitized, and encoded in the browser. The page code does not send its contents to a server.
Can I convert a DRM-protected EPUB to MOBI?
The converter refuses an EPUB when META-INF/encryption.xml or META-INF/rights.xml is present. It does not decrypt or bypass DRM.
What happens to EPUB CSS and interactive elements?
Scripts and selected interactive elements are removed, linked stylesheets are left out, and selected CSS patterns appear in Conversion warnings. The output is MOBI7, so its layout can differ from the EPUB.
How does the converter build a MOBI table of contents?
It uses EPUB3 navigation first and EPUB2 NCX second. If those sources provide no entries, it builds the table of contents in spine order using chapter headings, HTML titles, or archive paths.
