Audio Tag Editor

Read and edit ID3 and other documented audio metadata directly in your browser: title, artist, album, track, disc, year, genre, comments, artwork and technical tags. Batch edit across a queue, clear fields independently, validate values, preview exactly what changed per file, and download edited copies with a manifest - audio bytes are preserved, nothing is transcoded.

or

MP3 . FLAC . WAV (full edit) - other formats can be inspected but not saved - select multiple files for batch editing

How to edit audio metadata

Drop a file into the queue and the page reads its tags and technical values in the browser. Edit the fields or supported artwork, then choose Apply to prepare a tagged copy. The per-file preview shows the values before you download.

  1. Drop files on "Drop one or more audio files here" or choose "browse files".
  2. Select a queued file and edit "Title", "Artist", "Album", "Track #", or another field. Check "Clear" beside a field to remove its value.
  3. Choose "Replace" to select local artwork, or check "Clear artwork" to remove artwork that the file already contains.
  4. Read "Technical tags (read-only)", inspect "Change preview for this file", and correct any validation warnings.
  5. Choose "Apply", then use "Download edited file". For a queue, choose "Add more files" and "Download all (ZIP + manifest)".

Which audio formats support tag editing

MP3, FLAC, and WAV are the formats this page can edit and save. MP3 output uses ID3v2 tags. The reader uses ID3v1 values when parsed ID3v2 data has no title and no artist. FLAC uses Vorbis comments and picture blocks. WAV uses the RIFF LIST/INFO chunk.

Other formats can stay in the queue for filename and size reference. Their status is Unsupported, and the writer skips them. A ZIP still lists queued files in manifest.json, with no edited output for an unsupported file.

How to change audio tags and artwork

The editable fields are Title, Artist, Album, Album artist, Track #, Track total, Disc #, Disc total, Year, Genre, Comment, and Composer. The artwork preview keeps the current image until you choose "Replace" or "Clear artwork". MP3 and FLAC can store a replacement image; WAV writes its metadata fields without an artwork block.

track.mp3
Title: empty
After Apply: Title = Summer Drive

Track #, Track total, Disc #, and Disc total accept whole numbers from 0 through 9999. Year accepts four digits from 1000 through 2100. Text longer than 1000 characters raises a warning and is truncated when the file is written, including batch edits.

"Change preview for this file" lists each changed field with its before and after value. Artwork changes appear as present, none, cleared, or replaced. "Technical tags (read-only)" shows format, codec, duration, sample rate, channels, bitrate, and bit depth. When the reader finds an MPEG frame, MP3 duration and bitrate values are estimates.

How to edit tags on multiple audio files

In "Batch edit", check a field, enter its shared value, or select "Clear". The selected value is applied to that field on every supported file in the queue. Choose "Apply" to write the outputs, then choose "Download all (ZIP + manifest)". The ZIP contains edited supported files and manifest.json, which records filenames, formats, statuses, changed values, artwork changes, and warnings.

What to check before downloading

For a file such as track.mp3, enter "Summer Drive" in "Title" and confirm the change in the preview. A shared Album artist or Genre can be entered in "Batch edit" for the supported files in the queue.

For a mixed queue, review the technical panel and status for each file. Keep the manifest with the edited outputs when you download the ZIP. Unsupported files remain listed for reference.

When another audio editing tool fits better

Use Audio Edit Tools for metadata, cleanup, effects, or trimming. Choose Audio Cleaner for steady background noise, mains hum, hiss, or room echo. Choose Audio Effects Editor for pitch, tempo, fades, reverse, or a selected timeline range. Choose Trim Audio to select a start and end point and download that range.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit ID3 tags in the browser?

Yes. MP3 outputs use ID3v2 tags. The reader also checks ID3v1 values when parsed ID3v2 data has no title and no artist.

Does editing audio metadata change the sound?

The writers replace the metadata container and copy the audio bytes unchanged. They do not transcode, resample, normalize volume, or edit waveform content.

How do I change tags on multiple files?

Queue the files, check fields in "Batch edit", enter shared values or select "Clear", and choose "Apply". Each supported file keeps its own preview and output status.

Can I save tags in M4A or OGG files?

M4A and OGG files can remain in the queue for reference. The page marks them unsupported and does not create edited outputs for them.
