How to convert image to WebP
Choose one or more image files with Drop images here or browse files. Click Convert to create one .webp file for each successful input. The file list then shows a preview, the original size, the WebP size, and the calculated savings.
Convert images to WebP step by step
- Drop image files on
Drop images here, or choosebrowse filesand select one or more images. - Review the file list and set
WebP Qualitybetween1and100. The starting value is85. - Click
Convert. If you changeWebP Quality, the current results clear, so clickConvertagain to create the new output. - Check the preview and size columns. Download a successful file with its
Downloadbutton, or useDownload all as ZIPafter every queued file succeeds.
What WebP Quality changes
WebP Quality displays a value from 1 to 100. The conversion code sends that setting to Canvas as a WebP quality value, so 85 becomes 0.85. Changing it can change the rendered image and the output size.
The result keeps the source basename and replaces its extension with .webp. For example:
image.png
→ image.webp
The results table has File, Preview, Original, WebP size, and Savings columns. Savings is negative when the WebP output is larger than the source.
Which images can convert to WebP
The picker accepts image MIME types, plus .avif and .svg. The drop area lists PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, and WEBP. A selected file must load as an image, have readable dimensions, and produce a WebP blob through Canvas.
Conversion can fail when the image cannot be read, Canvas processing is unavailable, or WebP encoding is unsupported. The error appears beside that file. Successful files remain available for download.
What happens after conversion
Each successful file gets its own row, preview, WebP size, savings value, and Download button. The file list can contain several selected images, and Download all as ZIP becomes available when every queued file has a WebP result.
Animated inputs are drawn onto one Canvas, so the output does not preserve frame-by-frame animation. Selected image data is read through local object URLs and rendered in the browser; the conversion code has no request that sends those files to a server.
When another image converter is a better fit
Use Image Convert Tools when you are choosing among several image format changes. Choose Image Converter when the output may be JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF, or when you need its transparency controls. Choose PNG to JPG Converter when the source is PNG and the output needs a selectable background color. For HEIC or HEIF photos, HEIC to JPG Converter has the JPG-specific metadata and date options.

How do I convert an image to WebP?
Drop the image on Drop images here or choose browse files. Set WebP Quality, click Convert, then check the preview and size before downloading.
Why is my converted WebP larger than the original?
A WebP result can be larger than its source. Compare Original with WebP size, then change WebP Quality and click Convert again.
Can I convert multiple images to WebP?
The file picker and drop area accept multiple selections. Each successful file gets its own Download button.
When can I use "Download all as ZIP"?
Download all as ZIP becomes available after every queued file converts successfully. If one file fails, download the successful results individually.
Does converting an animated GIF keep its animation?
