Video Subtitle Burner

Permanently burn an SRT or WebVTT subtitle file into a local video - style the font, color, outline and background, check a safe-area preview, optionally limit it to a time range, and export at your chosen quality. The subtitles become part of the video's pixels and can't be switched off afterward.

How to burn SRT subtitles into a video

Start with a local video and a separate SRT or WebVTT file. Video Subtitle Burner reads each cue, places its text on the video frames, and creates a new video. Set the visual controls, time range, output format, quality, and resolution before clicking Apply. The exported subtitles are pixels in the video, so the result has no separate subtitle track to switch off.

  1. Add a video with Drop a video here or browse files.
  2. Add the subtitle file with Drop a .srt or .vtt file here or browse files.
  3. Set Subtitle style and check the Preview.
  4. Leave Burn subtitles into the whole video selected, or clear it and set the range.
  5. Choose Output format, Quality, and Resolution. Review Checks before you burn, then click Apply.
  6. Check the result and click Download video with burned-in subtitles.

What Subtitle style controls change

Font family lists Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, Times New Roman, Georgia, Courier New, and Impact. Font size accepts 12 to 80 pixels. Text color sets the caption color. Turn on Outline to set its color and width, or turn on Background box to set its color and opacity. Position uses a 3 by 3 grid. Margins (% of frame) has Left, Right, and Vertical values between 0 and 40.

Input cue:  00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:08,500
            Subtitle text
Output: the cue appears in the selected font, color, position, and box style

Preview follows the video's current playback position when a cue covers that time. With no active cue, it shows the first parsed cue. Show safe-area guide adds a guide to the preview only. The guide is not burned into the exported video.

Output format selects MP4 (H.264), WebM (VP9), or MOV (H.264). Quality uses CRF values between 15 and 35. A lower value produces higher quality and a bigger file. Resolution has Keep original, 2160p (4K), 1080p, 720p, and 480p.

How to trim subtitles to a time range

Burn subtitles into the whole video is selected when a video loads. Clear it to show the range handles, then set Start and End. Cues outside the selection are dropped. A cue crossing an edge is trimmed, and its timestamp in the selected output starts at zero.

What Checks before you burn reports

Checks before you burn reports timestamps that cannot be parsed, negative timestamps, cues whose start is not before their end, out-of-order cues, overlaps, ASS/SSA-style override tags, unsupported HTML tags, and WebVTT positioning settings. Cues with unusable timing are skipped. ASS/SSA tags and HTML tags beyond <b>, <i>, and <u> are removed before the burn.

WebVTT settings such as align, position, line, or size are reported, then ignored because one global Position applies to the export. A file with no parseable cues cannot be burned. Video Subtitle Burner does not edit cue text or timing, and it does not extract subtitle tracks already embedded in a video.

When to burn subtitles into video frames

Use this page when the delivery video needs caption text in its frames. Keep the wording and timing in the SRT or WebVTT file, then use Preview to check the placement and style before exporting a whole video or selected section.

Within Video Edit Tools, choose Trim Video for start and end points without subtitle styling, or choose Video Editor for crop, resize, rotate, flip, audio, playback, color, codec, and quality controls.

Frequently asked questions

How do I burn SRT subtitles into an MP4?

Add the video and SRT file, set Subtitle style, leave Burn subtitles into the whole video selected or choose a range, then choose MP4 (H.264) under Output format and click Apply.

Can I burn WebVTT subtitles into a video?

Yes. Add a .vtt file with Drop a .srt or .vtt file here or browse files. WebVTT positioning settings are ignored when the global Position is applied.

Can I turn burned-in subtitles off after export?

No. The subtitles are rendered into the video's pixels, so the exported video has no separate subtitle track to disable.

Is my video uploaded while subtitles are burned in?

Your video and subtitle file stay in the browser for processing. The page does not upload either selected file.
