How to edit a video online
Load one video, adjust its frame, playback, color, or audio, then export a new file. The selected video stays in the browser. When you export, the page loads its FFmpeg engine files and re-encodes the export locally.
- Drop a video here, or click browse files to select one.
- Use Play or Pause, move the timeline, and review the source in the preview.
- Set Enable crop / aspect-ratio reframe, Resize, Rotate, Flip, Mute (remove audio), Playback speed, the color controls, Video codec, and Quality (CRF).
- Click Export video, check the result preview, and click Download edited video.
Crop, resize, rotate, and flip a video
Turn on Enable crop / aspect-ratio reframe to show the crop box. Drag its handles to resize or move it, then choose Freeform, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:4. Resize starts at Keep original and also has 2160p (4K), 1080p, 720p, 480p, and 360p.
Rotate changes the orientation. Flip has Horizontal and Vertical. Both apply to the full export. For a vertical frame, choose 9:16, position the crop box, and set Resize.
Change video speed, looping, and audio
Playback speed has 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 4x, and 8x. Reverse playback buffers the full video in memory before re-encoding. Loop count repeats the complete audio and video together, with the export value kept between 1 and 20.
Mute (remove audio) removes the audio track. With Mute (remove audio) and Reverse playback off at 1x speed, the audio track is copied. Changing speed or reversing re-encodes audio at the Audio bitrate (kbps) value, which the export keeps between 32 and 320 kbps.
Choose video codec and quality before export
Every export re-encodes the video, and the page shows a warning before you start. Video codec has H.264 - MP4 (most compatible), VP9 - WebM, and AV1 - MP4 (smallest, slowest). Quality (CRF) runs from 0 to 51. Encoder preset has ultrafast, superfast, veryfast, faster, fast, medium, slow, and slower.
Brightness and Contrast each run from 0% to 200%. Saturation runs from 0% to 300%, while Grayscale removes color. The selected file is processed in the browser; the code creates a local object for the source and does not send the video to a server. If the source cannot be decoded, the page asks you to choose another supported video file.
Where video editing comes up
- A sideways phone clip needs Rotate. Check the result preview before downloading it.
- For a vertical frame, choose 9:16, reposition the crop box, and set Resize.
- To export a spoken clip without sound, select Mute (remove audio).
When to use Video Editor or another video edit tool
Video Edit Tools groups direct changes to a video file in the browser. Use Trim Video for start and end points around one time range. Use Video Subtitle Burner to permanently burn an SRT or WebVTT subtitle track into the video and style its appearance.
