Start with the original ratio
Drop a PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, or WEBP image into the page. The workspace then shows its dimensions and ratio, along with the current crop dimensions and ratio. The image is read through a browser object URL, and the selected pixels are drawn to a canvas for the PNG download.
- Drop an image here, or select browse files and choose an image.
- Read Original size and Original ratio after it loads.
- Select Free or a preset under Crop to ratio.
- Drag the crop box to position it, then drag a corner handle to resize it.
- Select Export cropped image to download the selection as a PNG.
How to crop an image to 16:9 or another preset
Under Crop to ratio, choose Free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, 3:4, 2:3, or 21:9. The crop starts centered when the image loads. Reset selection centers it again using the selected ratio.
A preset keeps its width-to-height relationship while you drag a corner handle. The box stays within the displayed image. Free lets the handles set the width and height independently.
Original image: 4000 x 3000 px
Crop to ratio: 16:9
Crop ratio: 1.7778
What the aspect ratio readouts show
The workspace reports four values as you move or resize the selection. Original size and Original ratio describe the loaded image. Crop size and Crop ratio describe the current selection in source-image pixels.
Original size: 4000 x 3000 px
Original ratio: 1.3333
Crop size: 1920 x 1080 px
Crop ratio: 1.7778
The readouts update with the crop. Reset selection returns to a centered crop using the active ratio. Use a different image clears the current image and returns to the upload area.
Supported files and the PNG export
The upload area lists PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, and WEBP. The file chooser also accepts JPEG by extension. The check accepts an image MIME type or a filename ending in one of those extensions. An unreadable image produces an error asking you to choose another file.
Export cropped image draws the selected source pixels to a canvas and downloads cropped-image.png. The export keeps the selected pixel dimensions. It leaves out padding, rotation, and a separate resize step.
How to frame the crop
For a wide image, choose 16:9 and drag the crop box until the subject sits inside the frame. The crop ratio stays at 1.7778 while you resize a corner.
For a square result, choose 1:1 and check Crop size before selecting Export cropped image. The downloaded PNG contains the selected square area.
Choose Free when the frame needs a shape outside the presets. Drag the box to move it, or use a corner handle to set its width and height.
When another image tool fits better
Use Image Cropper for its freeform, aspect-ratio, social, rotation, or batch-cropping workflow. Choose Image Resizer when you need exact pixel dimensions or a fit mode. For direct image changes in Image Edit Tools, choose Background Remover to remove a plain-color background.
