Text Analyzer

Paste or type your text for an instant deep analysis - word count, readability score, lexical diversity, keyword frequency, reading time, and more.

How to analyze text with the Text Analyzer

Paste or type text into Input text, or choose Upload for a .txt, .csv, .log, or .md file. Text Analyzer recalculates the results after the input changes, so the current text is reflected in the counts and metrics.

  1. Paste or type content into Input text.
  2. Select Upload when the source is a supported text file.
  3. Read Words, Characters, Sentences, and the other values in the primary statistics.
  4. Review Detailed Metrics, Top Keywords (stop words excluded), and Longest Words.

Check word count and readability

The primary statistics show Words, Characters, Chars (no spaces), Sentences, Paragraphs, Lines, Unique Words, and Syllables. Characters counts Unicode code points. Chars (no spaces) removes every whitespace character before counting.

Detailed Metrics shows Avg word length, Avg sentence length, Avg syllables / word, and Lexical diversity. Reading time uses 238 words per minute, while Speaking time uses 130. Flesch Reading Ease shows a score, a label, and a meter based on the page's estimated syllables and sentence count.

Input: The quick brown fox jumps
Output: Words 5 | Characters 25 | Unique Words 5

Find keyword frequency in text

Top Keywords (stop words excluded) lists up to 20 terms. Higher counts come first; equal counts are sorted alphabetically. The table reports Word, Count, and Density. The stop-word list includes terms such as "the", "and", "of", and "to", so those words are left out of the keyword rows.

Longest Words shows up to 10 distinct words, with longer Unicode words first. The analyzer lowercases words before comparing Unique Words, keyword terms, and Longest Words.

How Text Analyzer interprets input

Text Analyzer trims the input, splits it at whitespace, and removes characters outside Unicode letters, numbers, and marks from each candidate. Punctuation therefore does not add characters to a word. Sentences are counted around runs containing ., !, or ?, paragraphs are separated by blank lines, and Lines follows newline characters.

Lexical diversity divides the number of lowercased unique words by the total word count. Empty input hides the result section and resets the counters. When the text has no detected sentences, Flesch Reading Ease is 0 and its label is Very difficult.

Choose the right text analysis tool

Use Text Analysis Tools for counts and language metrics in one text. Choose Keyword Density Analyzer for one-word to three-word phrase density, highlighting, and its health score. Use Concordance Tool when a matching word or phrase needs surrounding context, line references, highlighting, or export.

Choose Unicode Inspector for character-level details such as grapheme clusters, code points, Unicode names, blocks, categories, scripts, encodings, and flags.

Use Text Analyzer for drafts, reviews, and fixtures

Paste a draft to check its length, sentence count, reading-time estimate, and Flesch Reading Ease before moving the text into an editor.

Inspect Top Keywords (stop words excluded) to see which terms repeat, then compare Density with the full word count.

Upload a log or Markdown file and check Lines, Paragraphs, Longest Words, and the character totals against text fixtures.

Frequently asked questions

How does Text Analyzer count words?

Text Analyzer trims the input, splits it at whitespace, removes characters that are not Unicode letters, numbers, or marks, and counts the remaining terms.

What does the Flesch Reading Ease score mean?

The score is calculated from 0 to 100 using the word count, sentence count, and estimated syllables. The page pairs the score with labels such as "Easy" and "Difficult".

Does Text Analyzer send my text?

The analysis script reads the input in the browser. It contains no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon, or form post for the input text. This code does not make broader claims about storage or confidentiality.
