How to use Phone Number Validator & Formatter
Use Single Number to inspect one value and its generated formats. Use Multiple Numbers when you have a list to review row by row or export as CSV. The parser trims surrounding whitespace before it checks each value.
Check one phone number
- Choose Single Number.
- Enter a value in Phone number. Include an international country code such as
+1or+44. - Read Country, Number type, Valid, Possible, E.164, International, National, and RFC 3966 in the breakdown.
- Select Copy to copy the breakdown text.
Check multiple phone numbers
- Choose Multiple Numbers.
- Paste values into Phone numbers to validate, with one number per line or comma-separated values.
- Review the table as the entries are parsed.
- Select Copy CSV to copy the rows, or select Download CSV to save the CSV file.
What the validator returns
When parsing succeeds, the single-number breakdown can show Country, Country calling code, Number type, Valid, Possible, E.164, International, National, and RFC 3966. The parser has no default region, so include a country code in the input.
Input: +44 7911 123456
Fields: Country, Number type, Valid, Possible
Formats: E.164, International, National, RFC 3966
How Multiple Numbers reads pasted text
Multiple Numbers splits the text at line breaks or commas, trims each piece, and skips blank pieces. The table shows Input, Country, Type, Valid, and E.164 / Error. CSV output also includes Possible, International, National, RFC 3966, and Error.
A blank Phone number field produces "Enter a phone number." An input the parser cannot read produces "This number could not be parsed. Include an international country code such as +1 or +44." The breakdown shows the error in place of the result fields.
If a row cannot be parsed, the table marks it as Error and the CSV keeps the parser message in its Error column. A blank piece does not create a row.
Use the generated formats in a workflow
For a contact list, paste the entries into Multiple Numbers, inspect the Country and Valid columns, then select Download CSV. The file keeps the original Input beside the parsed fields.
For one number in a support note, use Single Number and read the National, International, E.164, and RFC 3966 fields. Select Copy when you need the full breakdown text.
Choose another data validator
Data Validation Tools groups validators by the submitted value. Use the Email Validator for email syntax, domain, quoting, length, and character checks. Choose the URL Validator, Parser & Checker for URL parts such as the scheme, hostname, path, query, or fragment. Use the Base64 Validator for Base64 strings, padding, and variant details.
Frequently asked questions
How do I validate one phone number?
Choose Single Number and enter the value in Phone number. The breakdown updates as you type and includes Country, Number type, Valid, Possible, and formatting fields when parsing succeeds.
Can I validate multiple phone numbers at once?
Choose Multiple Numbers and paste one number per line or comma-separated values into Phone numbers to validate. Review the table, then use Copy CSV or Download CSV.
How do I format a phone number to E.164?
Enter an international number in Single Number and read the E.164 field in the breakdown. The bulk table and CSV include the E.164 value for each parsed entry.
Why can't Phone Number Validator parse my input?
The parser needs enough information to recognize the number. When it cannot parse a value, the page's error message asks for an international country code such as +1 or +44. Blank entries in Multiple Numbers are skipped.
