How to use a URL validator to parse a URL
- Open Single URL for one address.
- Enter it in URL, such as
https://example.com/path?foo=bar#section. - Read the breakdown and select Copy when you need its text.
- For a list, open Multiple URLs and paste values into URLs to validate, one per line or separated by commas.
- Review the rows, then select Copy CSV or Download CSV.
What a URL parser shows
For an accepted URL, the Single URL result shows Original, Protocol, Hostname, Port, Username, Password, Path, Query, Query parameters, and Fragment. A present password is masked. Query parameter and Fragment values are decoded for display when decoding succeeds.
https://example.com/path?foo=bar#section
Hostname: example.com
Path: /path
Query parameters: foo = bar
Fragment: section
The parser trims the value in URL before processing it. If the browser cannot construct a URL as entered, the script tries again after adding https:// and shows a note when that retry succeeds.
How to validate multiple URLs
Multiple URLs splits the value in URLs to validate at line breaks or commas, then drops blank entries. Each row records Input, Valid, Protocol, Hostname, Path, Query, Fragment, and Error. Invalid rows keep the submitted input and show a parser error when one is available.
These two entries become separate rows:
https://example.com/a
example.org/b?x=1
The second value is tried again with https:// because it has no scheme. Copy CSV puts the generated table data on the clipboard. Download CSV saves it as url-validation-results.csv.
What URL validation does not check
This page checks URL structure through the browser parser. It does not report redirects, reachability, phishing status, sitemap coverage, duplicate query keys, or HTTP status codes. Empty input produces no result, and a value the parser cannot construct is marked invalid.
Single URL sends the parsed hostname to an external hostname-information request. The response can include an IP, location, or network name, but the request can fail and leave that information unavailable. Multiple URLs builds its rows without that lookup.
Where this comes up
- Inspect a URL's hostname, path, query, and fragment as separate fields.
- Compare several parsed entries in Multiple URLs before copying or downloading the table.
- Check an address without a scheme and review the displayed retry with
https://.
When another data validator fits better
Browse Data Validation Tools to choose a validator by data type. Use Email Validator for email syntax, domain, quoting, length, character, duplicate, or DNS checks. Use IP Address Validator & Bulk Lookup Tool for IPv4, IPv6, or CIDR-style inputs and classification results. Use Base64 Validator for Base64 strings, padding, variant details, or CSV checks.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use a URL validator to extract query parameters?
Open Single URL, enter a value in URL, and read Query parameters in the breakdown. The displayed values are decoded when decoding succeeds.
Can a URL parser handle an address without https://?
The script retries an address without a scheme after prepending https://. It marks the result with a note when that retry is used.
How do I validate multiple URLs in one list?
Open Multiple URLs and paste entries into URLs to validate, one per line or comma-separated. Review the rows, then select Copy CSV or Download CSV.
Does URL validation confirm that a site is reachable?
It checks URL structure and does not test redirects, reachability, phishing status, sitemap coverage, duplicate query keys, or HTTP status codes. Single URL requests hostname information, but that lookup is separate from reachability testing.
