How a keyword list extractor finds matches
Start with the terms you need to check. Put each word or phrase on its own line in Keywords (one per line or phrase), add the text to search, then inspect the matches by value, line, and context.
- Enter one word or phrase per line in Keywords (one per line or phrase).
- Paste the text to search into the text area, or choose Upload for a
.txt,.csv,.json, or.logfile. - Select Case sensitive, Whole word only, or Unique only when you need a different result set.
- Review Matched values, the Match, Line, and Context rows, and the Keyword and Count summary.
- Use Copy or Download to keep the current list of matched values.
Find keyword matches in text and read the results
Matched values appear one per line in Matched values. Each result row has Match, Line, and Context. Context includes up to 20 characters on either side of the match, collapses whitespace, and adds an ellipsis when the snippet does not include all of the surrounding text.
The summary table pairs Keyword with Count and sorts rows by descending count. During a search, a keyword with no match can still appear with 0. Copy uses the current output, while Download saves it as keyword-matches.txt.
Text: Customer asked for a refund because the item was out of stock.
Keywords:
refund
out of stock
Matched values:
refund
out of stock
Search for phrases and control word boundaries
- Each non-empty line in Keywords (one per line or phrase) is trimmed and treated as literal text. A line can contain one word or a multi-word phrase.
- Matching ignores letter case by default. Select Case sensitive to treat
Refundandrefundas different values. - Whole word only adds word boundaries around each keyword. With that option off, a keyword can match inside another word.
- Matches do not overlap. If listed terms overlap or one contains another, the longer keyword is tested first.
What Unique only changes
Unique only keeps the first occurrence of each matched value. It changes the match count, results table, summary counts, and the text used by Copy and Download. With Case sensitive off, values that differ only by letter case count as the same value.
An empty keyword list or empty text input produces 0 matches, clears Matched values, and hides the result and summary panels. Blank keyword lines are ignored.
Use the matches in an article or log
For an article check, put required terms in Keywords (one per line or phrase), paste the article, and inspect each occurrence before copying the matched list.
For a log review, upload a .csv or .log file, search for phrases such as refund or shipping delay, and check each hit in Context.
Choose the right text extractor
Use Text Parsing & Data Extraction to choose among text extractors. Keyword List Extractor searches a known list of literal words or phrases; Extract Lines Containing returns whole lines that match words or regular-expression patterns.
Choose Custom Regex Extractor when the match shape needs a JavaScript regular expression or capture groups. Choose Extract Emails from Text when the input contains email addresses and you need domain filtering, lowercasing, or duplicate removal.
Limits and processing scope
The local code defines no explicit keyword-count or text-size limit. Very large keyword lists or text may be constrained by available browser or regular-expression resources.
Pasted text and selected file contents are read and processed in the browser.
