How to use the List Maker
Paste or upload lines, choose a list type, and read the formatted text in the right textarea. Auto-Nesting can turn leading tabs or groups of four spaces into nested items. Checklist also opens Interactive Preview for the items on the page.
- Type or paste source lines into the left textarea, or use Upload to load a TXT, CSV, LOG, or Markdown text file.
- Choose Bullets, Numbered, Roman Numeral, or Checklist under List type.
- Enable Auto-Nesting (detect indented sub-items) when indentation should create nested items.
- For Bullets, choose a value in Bullet character.
- Read the result in the right textarea, then use Copy or Download when output appears.
How to format text into numbered lists
Select Numbered under List type for decimal numbers at the top level. The first nested level uses lowercase letters, and the second uses lowercase Roman numerals. Roman Numeral uses uppercase Roman numerals at the top level, uppercase letters at the first nested level, and numbers at the second.

How Auto-Nesting handles indented lines
Auto-Nesting reads leading spaces and tabs on each line. One tab or each group of four spaces adds one level, up to three nested levels. With the option off, every nonblank line stays at the top level. The tool trims each item before adding its prefix and leaves blank lines out of the output.
What Checklist changes
Checklist adds an empty checkbox symbol to the formatted text and opens Interactive Preview when at least one nonblank item exists. Check all and Uncheck all change the visible boxes in that preview. The checked state stays on the current page, does not change the text output, and is gone after refresh.
Where list formatting comes up
Indented notes can become a nested Numbered or Roman Numeral outline. A task list can use Checklist while its items are ticked in Interactive Preview. The plain-text version remains in the right textarea for Copy or Download.
For a flat block of lines, choose Bullets or Numbered and leave Auto-Nesting off. When the source is already in a text file, Upload accepts TXT, CSV, LOG, and Markdown files before you save the result with Download.
When another text formatter fits better
Use the Text Formatting & Layout Tools category when you need a different kind of text change. Add Prefix & Suffix is the better choice when every line needs custom text before or after it. Choose Indent Text when the job is adding, removing, or converting indentation. For a Markdown pipe table, use Markdown Table Formatter instead.
