Set an alignment mode
Paste text into the input area or select Upload for a file. Text Aligner applies Left, Center, Right, Justify, or Char Padding one line at a time. The output is read-only, so review it before using Copy or Download. Line width sets the target for Center, Right, and Justify.
- Paste or type text into the input area.
- Select Upload when the text starts in a file.
- Choose Left, Center, Right, Justify, or Char Padding.
- For Center, Right, or Justify, set Line width or leave it empty to use the longest input line.
- For Char Padding, enter a value in Align by and choose Before symbol or After symbol.
- Review the read-only output, then select Copy or Download.
What Center, Right, and Justify change
Left returns each line without adding spaces. Center adds spaces on both sides, while Right adds them before the line. Justify distributes spaces between words when a line has at least two words. A numeric Line width is limited to 1 through 500; an empty field uses the longest input line.
Set Line width to 12 and Center pads a short line to that target. A line already longer than the target stays unchanged. Justify also leaves a one-word line unchanged, then joins the words with single spaces before distributing the extra gaps.
Input: Age: 30
Mode: Center
Width: 12
Output (edges marked): [ Age: 30 ]
Align a marker with Char Padding
Char Padding finds the first occurrence of the value in Align by on each line. Align by accepts up to three characters. Before symbol adds spaces before a matching line so the chosen value reaches the furthest matching position. After symbol adds trailing spaces so the text after the first match has equal length.
Name: Alice
Age: 30
Location: Berlin
Char Padding, Align by :, Before symbol
Name: Alice
Age: 30
Location: Berlin
Lines without the chosen value stay unchanged. If Align by is empty, Char Padding passes the input lines through without adding spaces.
What Text Aligner leaves unchanged
Text Aligner splits the input at line breaks and applies the selected mode line by line. A line longer than the chosen width stays at its original length. Center and Right add spaces, while Left returns the line as entered. Justify leaves lines with fewer than two words unchanged.
Char Padding uses only the first matching string on a line and leaves lines without a match as they are. Whitespace-only input keeps the result area hidden until the input contains non-whitespace text.
Examples for code comments and notes
For a block of Name: value settings, choose Char Padding and enter : in Align by. Before symbol places the labels on one visual column for a code comment or plain-text note.
For a fixed-width status list, choose Center or Right and set Line width before copying the read-only result into a note or document. For lines with multiple words, Justify distributes the spaces between those words.
Pick another text formatter
Text Aligner is part of Text Formatting & Layout Tools. Use Align Text Columns when delimiter-separated data needs selectable delimiters, header handling, column spacing, or tabs. Use Text Wrapper for wrapping text to a chosen width. Choose Add Prefix & Suffix when every line needs custom text before or after it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I justify text online?
Paste or type text, select Justify, and review the result in the read-only output area. Leave Line width empty to use the longest input line, or enter a number from 1 through 500.
How do I align text by a colon?
Select Char Padding, enter : in Align by, and choose Before symbol. Text Aligner adds spaces before matching lines so the first colon shares a column.
What does Line width do in Text Aligner?
Line width sets the target width for Center, Right, and Justify. Leave it empty to use the longest input line, or enter a value from 1 through 500.
How do I add spaces after a symbol?
Select Char Padding, enter the symbol in Align by, and choose After symbol. Matching lines receive trailing spaces so the text after the first symbol has equal length.
