Fantasy character name options
Genre supplies the setting label in each style note. Species / Culture selects the naming rules, and Character Role supplies the pool for an optional epithet. Set Phonetic Style to Auto (match species), Soft / Melodic, Harsh / Guttural, Ancient / Archaic, Exotic / Alien, or Simple / Earthy.
For ordinary names, Length selects Short, Medium, or Long. Gender Presentation accepts Any, Feminine, Masculine, or Neutral / Androgynous. A gendered ending is added only for some species and some results. Android / AI uses a letter, unit label, and number designation instead of the ordinary name construction.

Repeatable fictional name batches
The page generates a batch when it loads and regenerates it after a setting changes. To repeat one, enable Use seed, enter a non-empty Seed such as northwind-7, and leave the other settings unchanged. With Use seed off, or with an empty Seed, the generator uses a new random sequence.
Starting Letter keeps the first alphabetic character you enter and removes other characters. The generator makes up to 60 attempts for that first letter, then applies the letter as a fallback. Quantity is clamped to 1 through 200; an empty or non-numeric value becomes 10.
What the fantasy name generator exports
Each result shows a generated name and a pronunciation hint based on vowel groups. Show style notes adds the current Genre, Species / Culture, Phonetic Style, and Character Role, plus the selected gender presentation when it is not Any. Add role epithet / title appends a role-based phrase, except for Commoner, which has no configured epithet.
Copy All copies the displayed names. Download TXT saves fantasy-names.txt; when Show style notes is on, each line also includes pronunciation and style-note text. Download JSON saves fantasy-names.json with name, epithet, display, pronunciation, note, generated, and fictional fields. The pronunciation is a heuristic rather than a verified linguistic guide.

When another name generator fits better
This page is part of Text Generation Tools. Choose Random Name Generator for nationality presets, gender selection, or its optional Fake Identity mode. Choose Username Generator for gaming, professional, or aesthetic usernames with length, number, and symbol controls. Choose Domain Name Generator for keyword-based domain ideas with TLD, hyphen, number, and keyword-placement controls; it does not check availability.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use the fantasy name generator?
Choose the setting and naming controls, set Quantity, and review the generated batch. Enable Use seed and enter a Seed when you want to reproduce it later.
Can the fantasy name generator repeat the same batch?
Yes. Enable Use seed, enter the same non-empty Seed, and keep every other setting unchanged. The generator then rebuilds the same batch.
How does this character name generator use Starting Letter?
Starting Letter keeps one alphabetic character. The generator makes up to 60 attempts for it, then applies that letter as a fallback if none of the attempts begins with it.
Why does Android / AI ignore Length?
Android / AI generates a letter, unit label, and number designation. The normal Length, Phonetic Style, and gender-ending rules do not shape that designation.
Can I use these fictional names as usernames or domains?
The generator does not check username, domain, trademark, uniqueness, or brand availability. Use a dedicated username or domain generator for those naming tasks.
