Lorem Ipsum Generator

Set the generator controls

1. Choose Classic Lorem Ipsum, Cat Ipsum, Corporate BS, Pirate Ipsum, or Hipster Ipsum in Ipsum type.
2. Choose Paragraphs, Sentences, or Words in Generate by.
3. Enter a value from 1 to 500 in Count.
4. Choose None (plain text) or an HTML wrapper in Wrap in HTML.
5. Review the output, then select Copy or Download.

The page creates new output when you change Ipsum type, Generate by, Wrap in HTML, or Count. There is no separate generate control. The script reads the integer part of Count, accepts values from 1 through 500, and hides the output for an empty, non-numeric, or out-of-range value.

What Generate by changes

Paragraphs creates the number of paragraph blocks in Count. Each block contains three to five generated sentences. Sentences creates one sentence for each count. Words creates one space-separated word for each count.

Paragraphs use blank lines between blocks. Sentences and Words use spaces between units.

Choose a word bank and HTML wrapper

Ipsum type selects one of five word banks: Classic Lorem Ipsum, Cat Ipsum, Corporate BS, Pirate Ipsum, and Hipster Ipsum. The generator chooses each word at random, so changing a setting can produce different wording with the same Count.

Wrap in HTML leaves the result as plain text when set to None (plain text). The other choices add <p> paragraphs, <li> items inside <ul>, <h2> headings, <div> blocks, or <blockquote> elements. The generator escapes each unit before adding the tags.

Match the output to the receiving field

Choose Paragraphs when a layout needs several blocks of filler separated by blank lines. Sentences and Words suit fields that take one smaller text unit or a space-separated string.

Choose an HTML wrapper when the copied result needs paragraph, list-item, heading, div, or blockquote markup. Set Wrap in HTML to None (plain text) when the receiving field expects text without tags.

A themed Ipsum type can make placeholder areas distinct during prototyping. Replace the generated text before publication.
