How to use the random quote generator
Choose a mode first. Original quotes builds new quote-style lines from Topic, Tone, Audience, and Length. Public Domain / Sourced shows stored entries with author and work fields. Change a setting and the displayed list refreshes.
- Choose Original quotes or Public Domain / Sourced.
- For Original quotes, select a Topic, Tone, Audience, and Length.
- Set Quantity for the number of original lines, or choose a Category and Show amount for sourced entries.
- Review the updated results, then use Copy All or a download control.
How to generate original quotes
Original quotes uses local word banks to assemble each line. Topic selects subject words, Tone can add an opener or closing sentence, Audience selects the subject, and Length selects a sentence pattern. Set Quantity to 1, 5, 10, or 20.
Topic: Success
Tone: Inspirational
Audience: General
Length: Short
Output: Success begins where doubt ends.
Each result carries the label "Original - no author." The batch removes duplicate lines as it is built. It does not check the generated text against published quotations. If the available combinations run out, the tool returns fewer lines than Quantity.
How to browse sourced quotes
Public Domain / Sourced reads from a fixed local set of 38 entries. Pick a Category such as Time, Wisdom, Courage, or Nature, then choose Show: 5, 10, 20, or All available. Matching entries are shuffled before the selected number is displayed. A category can contain fewer entries than the Show value.
Category: Time
Show: 5
Quote: "Lost time is never found again."
Author: Benjamin Franklin
Work: Poor Richard's Almanack
Each entry keeps the Author and Work values stored in the dataset. Some Work values include qualifiers such as "attributed" or "as recorded by Plato, Apology." The page displays those fields as stored and does not add verification links or citation records.
How to copy or download quote results
Use Copy beside an entry for one quote, or choose Copy All for the displayed list. Original results use Download TXT with the filename original-quotes.txt. Sourced results use Download TXT as sourced-quotes.txt and Download CSV as sourced-quotes.csv.
If clipboard access is unavailable or a copy action fails, the status text reports the problem. The download controls stay available.
Where a random quote generator fits
Use Original quotes when you need a batch of new starting lines. Choose Topic, Tone, Audience, and Length, then set Quantity. The results show the generated line with the label "Original - no author."
Use Public Domain / Sourced when you need entries with stored author, work, and category values. Category filters the list, Show sets how many entries appear, and Download CSV writes separate quote, author, work, and category fields.
Choose the right text generation tool
Choose Text Generation Tools to browse the available generators. Lorem Ipsum Generator creates placeholder paragraphs, sentences, or words. Random Name Generator creates fictional names. Slogan Generator is for short branded taglines.
Frequently asked questions
Are the original quotes attributed to a real person?
No. Lines from Original quotes are labeled "Original - no author," and the generator does not attach an author name.
How do I generate original quotes by topic?
Choose Original quotes, then set Topic, Tone, Audience, Length, and Quantity. The results update after a setting changes.
Where do the sourced quotes come from?
They come from a fixed local dataset of 38 entries. The page displays each record's stored author, work, and category values, including qualifiers such as "attributed."
Can I extract quotes from my own text?
No. The generator does not accept pasted text for quotation extraction. It creates new lines or displays its fixed dataset.
Why did I receive fewer original quotes than Quantity?
A requested batch can be smaller when generation finds no additional distinct lines. The generator removes duplicates within the current batch.
