How to resize icons with Icon Resizer
Start with one raster image or SVG, select the icon sizes, and choose how the source fills each output. Icon Resizer creates PNG or WebP previews, with a download for each file and a ZIP download for the selected set. The script reads, renders, and zips the selected file in your browser.
- Drop a file on Drop an image or SVG here, or click browse files.
- Select buttons under App icon sizes, Social icon sizes, or UI icon sizes.
- Enter an optional Name (optional), Width, and Height, then click Add size for a custom output.
- Choose a Fit mode, set Padding, and choose a Background or Transparent.
- Select an Output format, click Apply, inspect the previews, and download the files.
Resize icons with app, social, and UI presets
The preset buttons are grouped under App icon sizes, Social icon sizes, and UI icon sizes. Four choices start selected: App Icon 512, App Icon 192, UI Icon 32, and UI Icon 64. Click a preset to add or remove it. Under Custom sizes, Name (optional) accepts up to 40 characters, while Width and Height use values from 1 through 8192.
App Icon 512 => icon-app-icon-512-512x512.png
UI Icon 32 => icon-ui-icon-32-32x32.png
An empty Name (optional) uses Custom in the filename. If selected outputs produce the same filename base, the later files receive a numeric suffix.
Choose a fit mode, padding, and transparency
- Contain keeps the whole source inside the target and leaves space around it.
- Cover fills the target and crops the overhanging edges.
- Stretch scales width and height independently, so the source may look distorted.
- Crop takes a centered region without scaling; a smaller source leaves padded space.
Padding runs from 0% to 40% and applies to every fit mode. Choose a color with Background, or check Transparent to leave the canvas clear. Output format offers PNG and WebP. Transparent source pixels and padded areas can remain transparent in either format.
What Icon Resizer does with SVG and raster files
Raster sources are resampled from their original pixels. For an SVG source, the tool reads its width and height or its viewBox. If neither supplies positive dimensions, it uses 512 by 512. During generation, the SVG is rasterized using the largest selected dimension, with that dimension kept between 512 and 4096 pixels.
An unreadable file shows an error near the workspace, and Change source remains available. The script makes no request carrying the selected content. File reading, rendering, and ZIP creation stay in the browser.
Where icon resizing comes up
- For one SVG mark, select App Icon 512, App Icon 192, and UI Icon 32, choose PNG, and download the generated images.
- For profile images, select Facebook Profile, Instagram Profile, and YouTube Channel Icon, review the previews, and use Download all as ZIP.
- For a 24 by 24 output, enter
24in Width and Height, click Add size, select Contain, and check the preview before downloading it.
When another image tool fits better
Icon Resizer belongs to Image Edit Tools. Choose Image Resizer when you need one image at exact dimensions, a social preset, or an aspect-ratio lock. Choose Image Cropper when the job is a freeform or aspect-ratio crop with rotation and visual guides. Choose Background Remover when you need to remove a plain or solid photo background and export the result with a chosen background.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize one icon to several sizes?
Select multiple preset buttons or add multiple custom sizes, then click Apply. The tool creates a preview and a Download button for each selected size. Download all as ZIP collects the generated files.
What does Contain do in Icon Resizer?
Contain scales the source until it fits inside the target without cutting off its edges. The remaining space uses the selected Background color or stays transparent.
Can I add a custom icon size?
Enter Width and Height from 1 through 8192, optionally enter Name (optional), and click Add size. The custom size stays selected until you remove it from the list.
Does Icon Resizer preserve transparency?
Check Transparent and choose PNG or WebP. Transparent source pixels and transparent padded areas can remain in the generated images.
Does Icon Resizer create favicon.ico?
No. It creates resized PNG or WebP icon images, not a favicon.ico file or a web manifest with matching HTML link tags.
