How to convert video frame rate
The first file you choose loads the conversion engine, then the page reads its frame rate, duration, estimated frame count, resolution, video codec, and audio track. Pick a target rate and adjust the settings. Conversion starts automatically, and the converted video appears in the browser for download.
- Drop a video file here or click browse files.
- Read Source frame rate, Duration, Estimated frame count, Resolution, Video codec, and Audio.
- Set Target frame rate and choose the conversion settings.
- Check Output duration, Output frame count, and Playback speed in the preview.
- Click Download result when conversion finishes.
Change video frame rate with cadence handling
Target frame rate has choices from 23.976 fps through 60 fps, including 24 fps, 25 fps, 29.97 fps, 30 fps, 48 fps, 50 fps, and 59.94 fps. Select Custom... for a value from 1 to 240. A missing or invalid custom value shows Enter a valid target frame rate.
Duplicate / drop frames (default) repeats or skips source frames to reach the target. Motion interpolation (new blended frames) blends neighboring frames and is available only when the target is higher than the source. The blended frames do not recover detail missing from the input.
Input: 24 fps video, 00:10.00
Target frame rate: 29.97 fps
Output: 29.97 fps video, 00:10.00 preview duration
Keep timing when changing video FPS
Leave Keep every original frame (changes playback speed) off to keep the source duration and playback speed in the preview. Turn it on to retain the original frame count 1:1 while retiming the clip, which changes the clip's speed and can change its duration.
Preserve variable frame rate (VFR) caps timestamps at the target instead of forcing a fixed cadence. Use it with a VFR source when the target player supports VFR. Motion interpolation disables Preserve variable frame rate (VFR) and Keep every original frame (changes playback speed).
Choose audio sync, codec, and quality
Audio sync has three choices:
- Keep audio unchanged (recommended) copies the track when possible and retries with re-encoded audio if copying fails.
- Re-encode audio, correct any drift: the tool resamples the track to match the output timeline.
- Remove audio creates a video without an audio track.
H.264 - MP4 and AV1 - MP4 create MP4 output. VP9 - WebM creates WebM output. Quality runs from 0% to 100%, and Encode preset (speed vs. compression) changes the encoder setting. The first file loads a conversion engine of about 30 MB. The selected video is processed by FFmpeg/WebAssembly in the browser, and the page script does not send it in a request.
Where changing video frame rate comes up
For a timeline that expects 29.97 fps, set Target frame rate to 29.97 fps - NTSC and leave Duplicate / drop frames (default) selected. The preview keeps the source duration while showing the resulting frame count and playback speed.
A VFR recording can stay variable with Preserve variable frame rate (VFR) when the delivery player supports it. To retain every source frame at a different speed, select Keep every original frame (changes playback speed) and check the preview before downloading.
Choose the right video conversion tool
Use Video Convert Tools when you need to change a video's format while working in the browser. Choose Video to GIF Maker when the output should be an animated GIF and you need controls for the source range, crop, size, frame rate, or colors.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a video from 24 fps to 29.97 fps?
Select 29.97 fps - NTSC under Target frame rate and leave Duplicate / drop frames (default) selected. The preview shows Output duration, Output frame count, and Playback speed before you download the result.
Does converting video frame rate change playback speed?
Playback speed stays unchanged when Keep every original frame (changes playback speed) is off. Turn that option on to keep every source frame and retime the clip.
What does Motion interpolation do when changing video FPS?
Motion interpolation blends neighboring frames to create synthetic frames when the target rate is higher than the source rate. The new frames can smooth motion, but they cannot recover missing source detail.
How do I keep audio in sync after changing frame rate?
Choose Re-encode audio, correct any drift when the source and output timelines need resampling. Choose Keep audio unchanged (recommended) when copying the original audio track is appropriate.
