Use the input and mode controls
Enter text or Morse code in the Input text or Morse code area. You can also select Upload for a .txt, .csv, .log, or .md file. Choose a direction under Conversion mode, then read the result in Converted result.
- Enter text or Morse code, or select Upload to load a supported text file.
- Select Auto-detect, Text → Morse, or Morse → Text under Conversion mode.
- Read the output in the read-only Converted result area.
- Select Copy, Download .txt, or Download .WAV. In Signal lamp, select Play to flash the current Morse signal.
How Auto-detect chooses the direction
Auto-detect checks the non-space characters in the input. If more than 65% are dots, dashes, or slashes, the converter decodes the value as Morse code. Otherwise, it encodes the value as text. Choose Text → Morse or Morse → Text to set the direction manually.

How to decode Morse code to text
With Morse → Text selected, put spaces between letter groups and a slash between words. The decoder trims the input, splits it at slashes, and joins the decoded letters within each word. An invalid Morse group becomes a replacement marker in Converted result.

What Text → Morse changes
Text → Morse normalizes the input to Unicode NFC and converts letters to uppercase. It encodes A–Z, 0–9, and these punctuation marks: period, comma, question mark, apostrophe, exclamation mark, slash, parentheses, colon, semicolon, equals, plus, hyphen, underscore, quotation marks, dollar sign, and at-sign. Unsupported characters are skipped. Signal lamp names skipped characters in its status text.
Signal lamp flashes a dot for 80 ms and a dash for 240 ms. It pauses for 240 ms between non-slash symbols and 560 ms at a word slash. Download .WAV creates 16-bit PCM mono audio at 44,100 Hz with a 620 Hz tone. Copy and Download .txt keep the converted result in text form.
Examples with the converted result
- Enter a call sign, select Text → Morse, and copy the dot-and-dash groups from Converted result.
- Paste
... --- ..., choose Morse → Text, and check the decoded text in Converted result. - Create a Morse alert, select Download .WAV, and open the resulting file in software that accepts WAV files.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert text to Morse code?
Select Text → Morse, enter the text, and read the dot-and-dash result in Converted result. Auto-detect can choose the same direction when the input contains fewer Morse symbols.
How do I decode Morse code to text?
Select Morse → Text, enter letter groups separated by spaces, and separate words with slashes. The decoded text appears in Converted result.
What does Auto-detect do in Morse Code Converter?
Auto-detect decodes when more than 65% of non-space characters are dots, dashes, or slashes. It encodes the input as text in other cases, and the two manual modes override that choice.
Which characters does the Morse Code Converter support?
Text → Morse supports A–Z, 0–9, and the punctuation listed in the article. Unsupported characters are skipped during encoding, while invalid Morse groups receive a replacement marker during decoding.
Is my text sent to a server?
The conversion, Signal lamp playback, and WAV generation run in the browser. The page code contains no fetch, XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon, or form post for the entered content.
