How to rotate images online
Image Rotator accepts JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, and BMP files. It combines a chosen angle with horizontal or vertical flipping, an optional background, and an output format. The preview updates when you change the angle, flip choices, or EXIF setting, so you can check the active file before applying the settings to the batch.

How to rotate and flip a picture
Quick rotate changes the angle in quarter-turn steps. Horizontal mirrors the image left to right, and Vertical mirrors it top to bottom. Reset sets the angle to zero and clears both flip choices. Custom angle accepts whole degrees between -180 and 180. Moving the slider or entering a number changes the preview.
For a sideways JPEG, leave Auto-orient using EXIF rotation data checked. The page reads the EXIF orientation value and applies it while rendering. Your angle and flip choices are then applied to that image.
What happens to corners after image rotation
A custom angle can create empty canvas areas around the image. Choose a color with Background for empty corners, or select Transparent to keep those areas clear. The color is drawn before the image is rendered.
Input: photo.jpg
Settings: 90° right, Output format: PNG
Output: photo-rotated.png
Choose image output format and quality
Output format includes Auto (PNG fallback for GIF/BMP), JPEG, WebP, and PNG. In Auto mode, JPEG, PNG, and WebP keep their source type. GIF and BMP produce PNG. The Quality slider supplies the encoding value for formats that accept one.
Lossless output (forces PNG, pixel-exact for 90° steps) switches the output to PNG. The pixel-exact wording applies to 90° steps; a custom angle uses canvas resampling. The preview information also includes Original size, Output size, and Metadata.
Rotate multiple images with one settings set
Add the files, click Select for a preview, and set the controls. Apply processes every file in the current list with the same angle, flip choices, background, format, and quality. The result preview shows the active image. Download all as ZIP creates a ZIP containing the completed outputs.
The page creates new image blobs for downloads, so the selected originals stay unchanged. Image decoding, canvas rendering, and ZIP creation run in the browser. The page code makes no request that sends the selected image content to a server.
Where image rotation comes up
Use Auto-orient using EXIF rotation data when a JPEG's stored orientation makes its preview appear sideways. For a quarter-turn, choose 90° left or 90° right, then select PNG if that is the required output.
For a mirror image, choose Horizontal or Vertical and review the result preview before downloading. For several images that need the same correction, add them together and click Apply once.
When another image edit tool fits better
Image Rotator is part of Image Edit Tools. Choose Image Flipper for a horizontal or vertical mirror without angle controls. Use Image Cropper to trim an area or use an aspect-ratio preset. Choose Image Resizer for exact pixel dimensions or a social-media size preset.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fix a sideways photo online?
Enable Auto-orient using EXIF rotation data for a JPEG that stores its intended direction in EXIF data. Add 90° left, 90° right, 180°, or Custom angle if the image also needs a manual turn.
Can I rotate and flip images at the same time?
Yes. Choose an angle, then select Horizontal or Vertical. The preview combines those choices before you click Apply.
Can I rotate multiple images at once?
Yes. Select multiple supported files with browse files, set the controls, and click Apply. Use Download all as ZIP for the completed batch.
What should I use for empty corners after a custom angle?
